To request a record now please click here. Process time (if all information is correctly provided) 2 working days turn around time. Please allow a max of 4 to 5 working days for incomplete information. There is a $5.00 fee for each record.
Stewardship & Administration
Parish Pastoral Council Three year term commitment. Responsibility would be to see that our Parish Community keeps faithful in continuing the mission of Jesus Christ here in Gary.
Building and Grounds Maintain our church building and grounds. Help promote teamwork and community involvement. Fall and Spring Major Clean-up. Commit a few hours per week or a few hours per month.
Angel Dusters Weekly - Friday Mornings 8:00am Maintenance of Church, Annex and Chapel. Dust mop and damp mop all floors. Dust pews (any visible wood work) clean washrooms and stock with supplies. Polish all candle stands, ect.. Clean glass doors. Clean Choir loft Maintenance of plant and floral arrangements displayed.
Sacristan (Weekly) Wash and iron all altar linens and servers robes. Clean and fill in all votive candles. Special Need: Someone who sews.
Spiritual & Worship
Hospitality Ushers (Teen & Adult) Greet people when they enter church. Help seat people. Take up the collection. Handout bulletins After Mass on Sunday. Assist during various Diocesan functions-serving either as greeters or aiding in the preparation of refreshments. Arrive 1/2 hour before Mass.
Lectors (Teen & Adult) Read the First and Second Readings for the Mass on scheduled Saturdays or Sundays.
Choir (Teen & Adult) Parishioners are invited to give glory and praise to God through song as members of the parish choir, as instrumentalists or as cantors. Possible wedding, funeral, quinceañera and liturgies. Arrive 15 minutes before Mass. Practice: 1 hour weekly.
Altar Servers (Teen & Adult) Assist the priest during Mass. Training provided by Father, Deacon or an Older Altar Server. Arrive 20 minutes before Mass.
Eucharistic Minister Helps with the distribution of the Body and blood of Christ during Mass. Schedules are provided on the last Sunday of the month
Parish Life
Fellowship Coffee Sundays after the 10am Mass. Set-up and clean up hall, tables, chairs, coffee etc. Pick up rolls for morning. Help maintain serving area of refreshments
Welcome Committee of New Members Assist in completing census form. Familiarize with various church ministries. Conduct tour of Cathedral. Introduce to Chairperson of different committees.
Evangelization Open personality-hospitable. Engage in feelings of others. Commitment with parish to help involve more parishioners in church activities accept/make open and personal invitations advertise social hours after Mass for fellowship. Commitment outside of parish: outreach to community.
Ministers of Care Assist the caregiver of the sick in the home. Relieve the main caregiver to run errands or take personal time off. Commitment: 2 hours every 2 weeks or as needed.
Communion to the Sick Visit parishioners who are homebound, hospitalized or in nursing home. Distribute Eucharist, prayer books and rosaries. Transportation to Anointing Services and/or Mass. Constant communication with Sr. Vijaya (886-0266). Commitment: to visit the homebound every 2 weeks.

Funeral Luncheon Willing to donate food items for funeral luncheons upon request. Volunteers needed to: hall set up (chairs, tables) receive food as they are dropped off serve and maintain food area Clean up: tables, floor and kitchen area/dishes
Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Committee (December 4-12) Meetings start taking place in early November. Committees formed for Novena preparations: scheduling of Novena Liturgy, Dance and Mañanitas (place and time
San Juan Bautista Committee (June 24) Meetings start taking place in early February. Help coordinate and work Fundraisers to help with the expense of the Liturgy, Raffles, Dinners etc. Committees formed for Liturgy preparations: Invitation to Cluster Priest (or outside priest) to celebrate. Social Hour after liturgy, Potluck style dinner
Divorce Support Ministry Provides a safe place for people during a critical transition in their lives. Program will help lead them to growth and the eventual restructuring of their lives. Groups are usually formed in October and the program runs into February. There are 10 sessions and are held every two weeks. Typically this ministry is open to both Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
Family & Youth Ministry Provides families and young people an opportunity to gather as a Christ centered community. Builds the faith community and strengthens support for each other within the community. Involves planning and directing family outings and youth activities both in a social setting and as a working member of the body of Christ.
South Shore Terrance Nursing/Rehabilitation Home Visit and offer companionship to all residents. Be the human touch for many of the residents who have no family or visitors
Education
R.C.I.A. - Rite of Christina Initiation for Adults Welcome and invite others to learn about the Catholic Faith. Members of the faith community agree to walk the walk of faith with others. Share personal stories. Meet weekly or bi-weekly with inquirers. Meet weekly after the Sunday liturgy with Catechumens and Candidates.
Adult Faith Formation Continuing education on various topics of the Catholic faith including the study of scripture, origins of the church, Marian Doctrines, etc.
Bereavement Ministry of Consolation (comfort those that mourn) Offer pastoral and spiritual support to the bereaved through counseling and other resources so that all who mourn a loss through death may receive the healing comfort of God.
