EDUCATION COMMISSION

Ann Martinmaki met with the Stewardship Commission.  They discussed youth involvement and the upcoming mission at St. Mary of the Lake.  They also discussed the five practices of Leadership in Context in preparation for the Evaluation and Planning Retreat that will be held on Saturday, November 21st.

PARISH LIFE COMMISSION

We spoke about the importance of identifying where the problem is in each of our parishes that prevents parishioners from being more active in the cluster and in their respective parishes.  We need to find a way to empower the people to do more.

PEACE/SOCIAL JUSTICE

As a commission we discussed those important Social Justice issues affecting our local community and affecting the global economy and human rights concerns in Central America.  They are:

  Act to extend Unemployment Benefits for fourteen more weeks.

  Help to secure housing for the homeless.

  Close the Schools of Americas.

Each commission member received a paper asking them to call their Senator, Representative and the President and to invite other members of their family to do likewise.

SPIRITUALITY/WORSHIP

We discussed Youth Ministry and the need for more adult leaders to work with our young people.

STEWARDSHIP

We discussed the traditional mission at St. Mary of the Lake-general idea is our faith unfolding as disciples.

We want to assist in making the evaluation meeting more prayerful.

All five Cluster Commissions met together.  Pearlette Springer prepared the letter to send to everyone who attended the Revival at SS. Monica & Luke on Friday, September 18^th, Saturday, September 19^th and Sunday, September 20^th.  The letter thanked them for attending the Revival, invited them back to our parishes and informed them of upcoming events in the Cluster.  Commission members addressed the envelopes and wrote a personal message on each letter.

Once the letters were completed, we looked over the comments for the revival.  Revival attendees were asked to evaluate:

Total Offerings                       $1,818.80

Expenses were for:   letterhead       $27.81 and hospitality (salads, cutlery, etc.)          $186.63

                                    Postage         $41.36 (94 stamps)

Cluster Evaluation/Planning Retreat will be held on Saturday, November 21^st from 9 am to 2 pm.  The Advisory Council will meet on Wednesday, October 7^th  to make plans for the day.
